One issue: learning to reflect on bad situations in an evolved way. Tip number one was great. I’ve also been doing a lot of healing work, and sometimes I haven’t been ready to answer the hard questions. This happens with job interviews as well, I.e., my last job was in a toxic work environment.
Maybe I’ll practice for these questions ahead of time and feel out if I need to process more. I also remind myself that dates or new friends are not therapists, and I let myself move more slowly with what I share, assessing how emotionally safe I feel with them.
